Session 2

Bammon is yelling at the crew to make sure the cultist doesn’t get on his ship but is indeed captured

Fish-Kicker approaches Bammon and asks if he was the one who posted the recruiting notice for crew to hunt down the white kraken

Bammon confirms that Fish-Kicker is skilled and capable enough to join the crew

Fish-Kicker really hates the kraken and its cult

We all make our way to Tedrick’s house, which is on fire and people are still inside

Ell and Fish-Kicker hear people downstairs who don’t sound distressed

Ell tells Bammon, “People. Ain’t distressed. Think they’re squid people.”

Bammon tells everyone to fan out and take out the cultists

Ell walks 20ft away from some cultists, throws at them a fuzzy object from his Tan Bag of Tricks which turns into a jackal, and tells it, “Feedin’ time.”

Bammon draws his sword

Professor Milhouse takes out a syringe, draws some of his own blood, and nocks the syringe dart into his crossbow to utilize his Crimson Rite

Bammon fucks up some cultists and they get sucked into a pitch black void

Milhouse, “If I’d known we’d be murdering people today I would have changed my glasses. Good to know you appreciate the finer things in life.”

Fish-Kicker turns one of the cultists into a seahorse

Drex hears people upstairs, tells everyone, and starts up the stairs

Ell follows, casts Fire Shield (Chill version), and Wild Shapes into a giant boar

We fuck shit up

A cultists escapes through the window

Milhouse brands a cultist and, after they get sucked through the void, he can tell that the guy id to the east and down

A creepy voice says, “You’re out of timeeeeeeeee” and it makes us all feel terrible

After the battle, we find Tedrick upstairs barricaded in a room

Bammon uses Lay on Hands, which is nice, considering Tedrick is missing a hand

Tedrick doesn’t know what the cultists want with the rings

Bammon suggests they leave since the whole house is on fire and filled with smoke

Drex casts Sleet Storm to utilize the ice to put out the fire

Milhouse has been exploring the house; he finds several holy symbols covered in blood, and in the downstairs servent’s quarters is a note with 50 gold pieces crumpled underneath a bed

The gold coins all have the same mark on them: A twisted tree

The note says basically ‘You’ll get the next half after tonight is over, just remember to leave the window open’

We can tell there was a LOT of fighting before we got here; Tedrick put up a hell of a fight but clearly had trouble retreating

We grab Tedrick and leave the house, heading north

We run into AVERCRUMBIEEEEEEEE, MY BOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Avercrumbie is surprised to see Tedrick handless and asks if he’s ok

We ask if he noticed all the explosions

Avercrumbie was, uh, getting ready… for, uh… well, it’s not important…

Milhouse asks Avercrumbie if he’s a shopkeep and shows him the coin

Those coins are minted in Kamangara, they’re pretty rare because they don’t like our raids and all that, the tree is the symbol of the emperor and he doesn't like it when his symbol is blasphemed because he totally thinks he’s a god emperor

Milhouse says the coins were left at the scene of the crime, ergo they paid with them

Milhouse suggests we sail to Kamangara to investigate

Bammon agrees that’s a good starting point

Avercrumbie implies that he may or may not be sailing out with us?

Avercrumbie scurries off, not even closing his shop door

Tedrick suddenly sits bolt upright and asks, “Did they get Johan??”

Tedrick is extremely worried that they’re going after Johan because he had a ring too

Bammon tells Ell to run Tedrick to the ship then meet them at Johan’s

Johan’s house is kiiiinda intact

Sasha Baraxus is outside; a surly elven woman wearing a magnificent hat

Sasha is directing people around; the area is partially cleaned up

There are several unconscious cultists laying out front

Bammon approaches Sasha and asks if everything is ok, including Johan

Sasha tells Bammon that Johan is out on a raid, he won’t be back for a few weeks

Sasha doesn’t know what’s special about the rings and neither does Bammon

Bammon asks if she knows who has the third ring

Sasha confirms the club ring? With the eye? It was a fabric and spice shop owner in Green Garden

We pass a shop called Haberdash Haberdash; there are no lights on but the open sign is up

We enter and it’s completely empty

Bammon, Milhouse, and Fish-Kicker go inside and Bammon smells blood towards the back

Crawn, Drex, and Ell go around outside to the back and find a pool of blood that leads behind some crates

Bammon finds a one-handed man face down in a pool of blood in the fitting room area

Crawn finds a young homeless man with his throat cut; in his hand he clutches a scrap of white cloth that looks an awful lot like a cultist robe

He still has some coins on him and apparently hasn’t been robbed; the gold coin is shiny with a twisted tree stamped on it

Insides the store we find an alabaster kraken that looks like it got kicked out of the way

Ell finds tracks that were scuffed, as if the foot owner(s) were in a hurry

We track them to the east but in an alleyway they just disappear

Ell casts Detect Magic and figures out it’s conjuration magic in a 10ft diameter on the ground

Milhouse stays in the shop and inspects everything; he finds a deck of hard with decorative backs, foiled work on an intricate paisley design; all the cards are blank

When the group returns, Milhouse has laid out the cards looking at them like a puzzle

Ell still has Detect Magic up and his eyes hurt; he can’t even look at the cards

Milhouse, “This might be a clue, yes. How much do you think they’re worth? Yes…”

Bammon suggests a gold, and Milhouse leaves a regular gold coin on the counter

Milhouse draws an M on one of the cards to mark it

We decide to go to the castle and find a small hole in one of the walls

There are guards standing around staring at a lanky half-elf guy stuck in the hole

It’s….. Viticus

Bammon tells the guards that they need to stop all ships from leaving the harbor

They’ll need to get one of the high captains to approve; currently in town are Ash-Heart and Guanyin

Bammon and Crawn pull Viticus out of the hole in the wall

Viticus and Ya Boi still study together

Viticus saw some cultists run to the graveyard

We figure that the manticore probably ate them, so we go straight back to the docks

Captains Ash-Heart and Guanyin are there listening to Avercrumbie

Guanyin tells Avercrumbie that it doesn’t matter what the president of the thieves guild says and it doesn’t matter what he says, the answer is still no

Avercrumbie desperately explains that he NEEDS to take the Trench Lane

Avercrumbie asks Bammon for support as we all approach

Bammon tells him to hold a minute and asks the captains to hold all the ships here

Guanyin asks why; after explaining, she tells Bammon she can hold the ships for a few days

Bammon explains the three people whose hands and eye rings were stolen

Guanyin nods then turns to Avercrumbie and raises an eyebrow

Avercrumbie starts to panic hearing about the haberdashery and says we have to warn Johan

Avercrumbie gives Guanyin the BIGGEST PUPPY DOG EYES EVER

Guanyin says that if he can get ALL the high captains to agree, she’ll give him access to the Trench Lane

Avercrumbie tells Bammon that he needs to go with him to fight the kraken

Bammon asks why

Avercrumbie takes him to the side, explaining he needs to do things before it’s too late

Avercrumbie tells Bammon he’s dying; he’s 87

Bammon doesn't want to put Avercrumbie in danger or be responsible for his death

Avercrumbie already made arrangements for someone to have tea with his mom every Tuesday

Bammon reluctantly agrees and asks what the Trench Lane is

Avercrumbie whispers, “Where the dead go…”
