Fish-Kicker returns the kids to the captains

COMBAT WITH THE TWO KRAKEN STATUES

Milhouse finds runes on the crumbled bodies of the statues that seem to match those in the room where how hand was chopped off

Milhouse goes to examine the runes on the altar where he lost his arm and calls for Ell, saying that he needs his eyes for something

Ell walks in the altar room and sees… something… terrible…

Ell, “…You really needed my eyes to see that, Milhouse..?”

Milhouse notices the abomination and is Concerned

Milhouse, “Ell, I think… we should back away… slowly…”

Ell puts his arm out so Milhouse moves out of the doorway first, “Yep… Nice and slow…”

Milhouse, “Yes…”

Ell, “You happen to remember how to close the door..?”

Milhouse, “To be honest, I don’t think the door will stop it…”

Ell, “I think you’re right…”

The abomination slorps towards Milhouse and Ell

Bammon and Crawn notice the abomination and are Concerned

The abomination asks, with the voice of a child, “Papa..?”

The abomination barfs out a ball and asks us to play

None of us want to touch the ball, which is covered in slime and gore

Ell casts Shape Water to make a humanoid figure who picks up the ball and throws it to the thing

The abomination’s many terrible limbs try to catch the ball but end up popping it

The abomination starts to cry and bicker in the voices of many, many children

Ell casts Shape Water again to make a ball that looks just like the one that popped

Ell tells the abomination they can play for an hour and to not fight

We all GTFOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

We tell the captains everything that happened

One of them goes to take care of the abomination

Big explosion from the university; a massive spray of rock and… parts

The rain smells like meat

A chunk lands in front of Ell, about 3ft long, with a mouth on the end of it

The chunk looks at Ell and sobs, “Am I not pretty enough, papa?”

SHE IS AFRAID OF DOGS

Ell tells her a story, trying to get her to sleep

Ell silently indicates to Bammon that it’s time to put her down

Bammon stabs her repeatedly but she doesn’t die

We go to the castle to see if they can help

Avercrumbie asks why Ell has the soul of a little girl attached to his arm

Avercrumbie says we need to use the Trench Lane to meet Death, who can help Sarah

To get permission to use the Trench Lane, we still need to get permission from: Tanis Dreadwhisper (Harogate), Silaris Emberstorm (Hikou), and Hamnefi the Icefist (Zhengheim)

After many long minutes of Q torturing me, Ell tells Sarah she can come with us until we can find someone who can help her, but she needs to listen to him if he tells her to do something so that she stays safe

Sarah promises to try

We each get 500G for destroying the library

That night, Ell dreams of a little girl who tries to convince him that she can help; she used to have a little sister and she helped with her, so she can help here, too

Ell asks Milhouse if he’s ok after yesterday

Milhouse says it was a good day but he’s clearly lying

Ell comments that he did a good job taking down those statues but after… That creature… That was hard

Milhouse thinks that what the cultists did to those kids is abominable

Ell agrees

Milhouse will make sure the cultists pay for what they did

Ell tells Milhouse that he might be glad to know that one of those kids is doing ok

Ell moves into the room and shows Milhouse his new tentacle arm

Milhouse asks wtf happened to Ell’s arm

Ell explains it’s part of the creature that got exploded; it got attached to him and now it– Sarah– will be traveling with us until we get to the Trench Lane, where we can find someone to help her

Milhouse tells Ell that children are sacred and should be protected; is Ell willing to take on that responsibility?

Ell gives Milhouse a deep, intense look, looks down at Sara, and says he is

Before Ell leaves, Milhouse asks if he can test something with the tentac– with Sarah

Ell acquiesces and puts his arm on Milhouse’s examination table

Milhouse pulls out the jar with black goo in it

The goo seems to go back and forth between wanting to move away from Sara and moving closer, rattling around in the jar

Milhouse is testing out theories, trying to learn about what the goo likes and fears

Ell appreciates that Milhouse is a scientist; it’s good we’ve got someone on the crew with the smarts and willingness to push boundaries

Milhouse states that no progress can be made without pushing the limits

Ell heads out to let Milhouse get back to testing his new arm

On his way out, Ell hears Milhouse mutter something but can make out only one word: “Father”

We sail to Hikou

Captain Silaris Emberstorm wants us to hunt down the Majestic Wind and steal their special new cannon for him

The Majestic Wind is sailing from Minyi to Tian

If we leave today we can intercept them as they pass south of Tosanvik

We sail out and arrive there early enough to set up an ambush
