Fae god of dreams, hope, and twilight. Luthanis was once a lord of the Mirage who ascended to godhood in pursuit of Illythia, the Moon. He gathered power through the dreams of mortals, shaping their hopes and fears until he had enough to rise beyond the Mirage and stand beside her. He is generally gentle and patient, but still unmistakably fae in nature: otherworldly, unpredictable, and capable of being dangerous when slighted.

Divine Influence

All dreams fall within Luthanis’s domain, including daydreams and fleeting thoughts.

He does not simply observe dreams,he can influence them, guide them, and sometimes reshape them. To Luthanis, redemption is itself a kind of dream:

  • The hope to become something better
  • The regret that lingers like a nightmare
  • The quiet belief that change is possible

He does not force redemption, but he ensures it is always present as an option, even if only within a dream.

Darkness is also part of his domain, not as destruction, but as a necessary state:

  • A place to rest
  • A place to hide
  • A place to confront what must be faced

Without darkness, there is no dawn. Without dreaming, there is no change.

Signs And Associations

Animals: Deer, wolves
Colors: Deep violet, navy blue, silver, pale gold, pearl
Celestial: The moon in all phases

Omens and Signs:

  • Vivid dreams under direct moonlight are considered a sign of his attention or favor
  • A candle burning an unusual color at night may indicate his presence
  • Sudden, peaceful sleep during times of distress can be taken as a blessing

Motifs:

Manifestation

Luthanis rarely appears in a fixed form. In dreams, he is typically a shifting figure that feels familiar, but not entirely correct.

Common aspects include:

  • A stag with antlers made of constellations
  • A wolf with a long flowing mane of starlight
  • A tall figure cloaked in darkness, with features obscured by moonlight
  • A person the dreamer recognizes, though subtly altered

There is always something off, something that makes it clear he is not of the mortal world. He originated in the Mirage and never fully left that nature behind.

Myths and Legends

Ascension

Luthanis began as a fae lord within the Mirage. After falling in love with Illythia, he sought to become something more. By influencing the dreams of mortals, he gathered enough power to ascend to godhood.

His ascension is not typically described as conquest, but as transformation: becoming worthy of standing beside the one he loved.

Relationships

  • Illythia (article incomplete) – His beloved. Their relationship is steady, though her presence follows the cycles of the moon. During the new moon, she resides fully within his realm.
  • The Scoundrel – Illythia’s father, who distrusts Luthanis. He has tested him repeatedly through deception, illusions, and by obscuring the moon itself (supposedly this is why lunar eclipses happen).
  • Kardathi – Considers him weak

Other Myths

Stories, parables, contradictions.
