The stony matron of the Baraxus family, Sylessa is the Pirate Lord of the remote northern port of Tarogan.

While the Baraxus matron is known to be a spell caster of some sort, she's not known for talking about that aspect of her life much outside of casual conversations with certain other High Captains. While she doesn't speak much about herself, Sylessa is known to be permissive of her children, actively encouraging them to seek their own path and seize their own destinies. She maintains a rather cold and distant demeanor most of the time, and her management of her port is frequently considered ruthless in its efficiency. There are no beggars in Tarogan.

• She sacrifices everyone who does not perform to her satisfaction to some vile ice dragon that lives beneath the sea ice.
  • This includes residents of Tarogan in addition to her own ship crew.
• Johan is clearly her favorite because he reminds her of his father.
  • Johan is not her favorite for that exact same reason, that's why she lets him do whatever he wants, because she doesn't care and hopes he will get himself killed.
• Sylessa knows something, and that's why Silaris and Fiandraska are afraid of her.
