Elven god of conquest and victory. Erubenyx is revered as the greatest of the First Men, a warlord without equal who claimed lands, secrets, and power through strength and cunning. His victories are said to have shaped the course of history, and his mythological campaigns are still studied by generals and scholars alike.

Though not widely worshipped across Gimahn, he remains a central figure in Tiressea and surrounding regions, where his legacy is preserved through both song and strategy.

Divine Influence

Erubenyx favors those who act decisively and think ahead.

He rewards:

  • ambition and initiative
  • clever strategy
  • calculated risk-taking

Victory, in his eyes, is not simply achieved through strength, but through outmaneuvering one's opponent and seizing advantage at the right moment.

Those who follow him are often guided toward opportunities—weaknesses revealed, openings created, or enemies made vulnerable through circumstance. These are not gifts freely given, but chances to be taken.

He does not protect the unprepared. He favors those who make themselves worthy of victory.

Signs and Associations

Animals: Birds of prey, carrion birds
Colors: Gold, deep green, steel grey
Weapons: Axes, swords, bows

Omens and Signs:

  • A sudden realization of an opponent’s weakness
  • An unexpected opening in battle or negotiation
  • A plan unfolding more cleanly than expected
  • Carrion birds over a battlefield

Motifs:

  • Banners raised over conquered land
  • Interlocking strategies and layered plans

Murder: The axe known as Murder, fashioned from the bones of a giant bird, is said to be a sacred relic of Erubenyx. It is believed to drink the blood of those it strikes, empowering its wielder with the essence of their foes. Murder has appeared and disappeared throughout history and is highly sought after by those devoted to Erubvenyx.

Manifestation

Erubenyx appears as a tall elven warrior, bearing the marks of countless battles. He is usually depicted with one brown and one blue eye, the result of an old battle where he took opponent's eye to replace his own after it had been lost in the fight.

He carries a great axe or sword and wears armor suited for war rather than ceremony. His presence is commanding, confident, and unmistakably that of a leader. In scenes where he is depicted without the axe, it is claimed that he is lending out Murder to another warrior.

Worship

Erubenyx is primarily worshipped in the Tiressea region by those who seek victory through strength and strategy.

Common Followers:

  • Ambitious elves and those steeped in elven culture
  • Generals and military officers
  • Soldiers seeking glory or survival
  • Individuals seeking to rise above their station

He is often invoked as both a patron of conquest and a warning: proof that even the greatest can fall if they misjudge those closest to them.

Tenets

  • Victory belongs to those who seize it
  • Strength must be paired with cunning
  • Trust is a tool, not a guarantee
  • Reward loyalty, but be prepared for betrayal
  • Do not waste an opportunity to dominate your enemy
  • If you are betrayed, ensure it is the last mistake your enemy makes

Clergy

Clergy of Erubenyx act as historians, tacticians, and advisors.

They are responsible for:

  • recording battles and campaigns
  • teaching strategy and leadership
  • advising rulers and military leaders

They often emphasize his victories and leadership, presenting him as both a warrior and a model of ambition.

Affiliated Orders

  • Military academies and strategic guilds
  • Elite warbands and officer circles
  • Noble houses tracing lineage to ancient campaigns

Notable Temples

Temples of Erubenyx are mostly found in Tiressea, rarely outside of it. They may be found within:

  • military strongholds
  • training academies
  • ancient fortresses

Holy Days

  • Celebrations of major victories
  • Anniversaries of famous battles

Rites

Burial: The dead must be buried with their weapon in hand or within reach. If they possessed rank or authority, a token of that station must also be buried with them.

The body is positioned upright if possible, or laid with the head elevated, as if still observing the field.

Before burial, a recounting of their greatest victory (or, if none is known, their final battle) is spoken aloud.

This is done so that they are remembered not for how they died, but for what they accomplished.

Claiming Victory: After a battle, a follower of Erubenyx must take something from the field to mark their victory.
This may be:

  • a weapon
  • a banner fragment
  • a piece of armor

The item is kept as proof of conquest or offered to a superior as a sign of loyalty.

Trial of Command: Before taking command of others, an individual must demonstrate both strength and cunning.
This may take the form of:

  • a duel
  • a tactical exercise
  • or a controlled engagement

Victory alone is not sufficient, how the victory is achieved is judged.

Offering of Opportunity: When a clear advantage presents itself, a follower may choose to offer their opponent a chance to surrender or act.
This is not done out of mercy, but to test the opponent—and to create an opportunity to prove superiority if they fail.

Myths and Legends

The Conqueror’s Rise

Erubenyx rose to prominence during the time of the First Men and First Beasts, earning his title through unmatched success in battle. He claimed lands and power, forming alliances where useful and crushing opposition where necessary.

He was known to spare defeated enemies and reward loyalty, often placing trusted generals in charge of conquered lands.

Erubenyx ascended to godhood when he killed the Old God Tychas for cheating in a card game. This set off The War of Turmoil.

The Slaying of Murder

When the First Crow known as Murder betrayed the Raven Mother, Erubenyx tracked and slew it through cunning rather than brute force. He fashioned its bones into a great axe, which he carried thereafter as both weapon and symbol of his victory. He occasionally lends out the axe, allowing chosen warriors to find it.

The Betrayal of Ardanelle

Erubenyx’s love for Ardanelle is remembered as both his greatest joy and his greatest failing.

Though he provided her with knowledge and built her a great library, she ultimately betrayed him, valuing power and knowledge above his devotion. Blinded by love, he failed to see her treachery until it was too late.

His grief and anger following this betrayal led to a devastating campaign across the land, the effects of which are still felt in ancient ruins and forgotten strongholds. Many of his followers believe this betrayal to be a lesson: that love, if misplaced and trusted blindly, can become a weakness.

The Endless Campaign

After his exile and return, Erubenyx waged war across entire kingdoms, toppling rulers and leaving fortresses in his wake. Among these was Solbach, one of the greatest strongholds of the ancient world which lives on as the capital of Tiressea.

It is said that even Kardathi, the Vengeful, was defeated by Erubenyx on multiple occasions and spared, proof of both his superiority and his restraint.
