Session 8 - 4/17/2024
Everyone except Crawn hears small, muffled screams and harsh yelling in response
Ell notices a broken barrel spilling blood, bones, and guts all over the floor
Drew moves forward, opens the door, and sees a teenage half-elf
We roll for initiative and start smacking around the cultists
The half-elf kid tells us to help his friend; he’s in the next room, where the cultists are running to
Fish-Kicker takes the half-elf kid to safety away from the fight
Two cultists are caught up in Ell’s Entangle
“Get to the gate! Make sure they don’t get to the altar!”
We hear a door slam and some splashing to the east
Milhouse gets to the second kid, who points him in the direction the other cultists fled
Milhouse opens a door, sees SOMETHING BAD, closes the door, and walks back
Milhouse looks over the kid and notices rune-like markings near his ear
Milhouse tells Ell that we should study these kids; the cultists did something to them
Ell takes the second kid to hang out with the first kid and Fish-Kicker
Ell tells Fish-Kicker to take the kids to safety and holler if anyone comes down here
The rest of the group explores the base and short rests
We explore the base, looking for the altar
We go through a partially-water-filled room with a pulsing monstrosity that we sneak past
In the altar room, there’s a body before a large statue of the albino kraken
There are four armed monstrous gargoyles with tentacles on their faces and wings
The body was reaching into the statue’s mouth, but he was attacked before that
Bammon reaches for the lever the cultist was going for; a gravelly voice asks what he’d be willing to sacrifice for one of its gifts
Bammon withdraws his hand and explains what he heard
Milhouse asks Bammon what he’s willing to sacrifice, if he’s like the cultists
Milhouse asks what we should do at this point
Ell notices a mouse in the kraken statue’s mouth and moves closer; no one else can see it
Ell realizes that the kraken statue is actually a door
The body jumps up and bites Ell, telling him we’ll never take the gifts, hisssssss
Milhouse wants to pull the lever. For science.
Milhouse uses his right hand to pull the lever; he hears a whisper in his head asking what he would sacrifice for its gift
Milhouse asks if there is any more information
The voice responds no, only that his sacrifice will not be recoverable
Milhouse agrees to the sacrifice
Milhouse’s right hand gets cut off a bit below the elbow; the wound bleeds copiously
Milhouse bandages his arm up, accepting no help
Crawn asks if he needs help but Bammon and Ell make the ‘let him do his thing’ gesture
Milhouse walks to the altar and feels the most compelling urge to put his nub near it
Stones form an arm and splintered wood forms fingers
Milhouse takes out the vial of black ooze and it chills lazily, comfortably
Milhouse now has a DOPE AF new arm
